SATÕ Kei
Child's face

Using a blue-eyed child as his model, he paints with a light, sketch-like quality. The way the contours are drawn out in places to add contrast is reminiscent of the oil paintings of his beloved Picasso. Sato Kei formed the New Creative Association with Wakita Kazu and others and continued to exhibit at the same exhibition. After the war, he based his work in Paris and held many solo exhibitions throughout Europe and the United States.
