NOGUCHI Yataro
Apricot Village

Apricot flowers, which bloom earlier than cherry blossoms and have a shorter viewing period, are in full bloom. The mother and child are depicted dressed warmly in the still cold weather. The vitality of the apricots overflows throughout the screen, and the moving trees just barely fit within the frame. However, there is a sense of unity in the color tones and gloss, and the sense of diffusion and unity is expressed in a well-balanced way. Noguchi Yataro was born in Tokyo, but his father was from Isahaya, Nagasaki Prefecture, so he attended elementary school there and also visited Nagasaki many times, continuing to paint lyrical landscapes.
