木村忠太 KIMURA Chūta

Chuuta Kimura's paintings, in which shapes like trees and cars are vigorously drawn with strong lines, somehow evoke a sense of the fleeting nature of time and the wavering of vision. He called himself an 'Impressionist of the soul' and continued to depict landscapes, pursuing paintings in which changes in light and the deepening of the inner self were fused. Since going to France at the age of 36, Chuuta Kimura never returned to Japan until the end of his 70-year life.
