長谷川潾二郎　HASEGAWA Rinjirō

木の生い茂る小高い丘に細い分け目があるがそこは小径なのだろうか。その真上には月のような太陽が登っている。そして、それ以外のものは何も描かれていない。しかし、近づいて眺めてみると細部にまで丁寧に描きこんだ跡が伝わってくるので、絵の密度としては十分なように思える。この作品は画用板の本来絵を描く面ではなく、裏面を利用して描かれている。裏面の上下両端は反りをやわらげるために斜めにカットされているが、額装する際にはその斜めの部分は隠れることになる。その裏は全面朱色である。本人は額装を想定していなかったのかもしれない。

There is a narrow gap in the wooded hill, perhaps a path? Directly above it is a moon-like sun. Nothing else is depicted. However, upon closer inspection, traces of careful attention to detail are apparent, and the density of the painting appears to be sufficient. This work was painted on the back of the board, rather than the side that is normally used for painting. The top and bottom edges of the back have been cut at an angle to reduce warping, but these angled sections will be hidden when the piece is framed.The back is completely vermilion, so the artist may not have intended for it to be framed.
