タマヨはメキシコ美術のモダニストの先駆者とも呼ばれている。
独特の雰囲気を感じさせる色使いも相まって、画面中央の人物は何か意味を持っていそうだが、誰が何をしているのかはわからない。鑑賞者に物語性を想起させる作品である。

Tamayo is also known as a pioneer of modernist Mexican art.
Combined with his unique use of color, the figure in the center of the painting seems to have some meaning, but it is unclear who he is or what he is doing. The work evokes a narrative in the viewer.
