テーブルの上に置かれた金魚の水槽とそれを眺める若くはない女性。初秋という題名が意味することも、陰になっている女性の表情を読み取ることも困難である。ただ、女性の左手首の折れ曲がり具合に緊張感がないことから、深刻な場面ではないことが推測できる。子どもが夏祭りで捕まえてきた金魚が皆元気に秋を迎えようとしているのかもしれないし、手がかりがないだけにさまざまな想像が可能である。

A goldfish tank is placed on a table and a woman, not young at heart, is looking at it. It is difficult to understand the meaning of the title "Early Autumn" or to read the expression of the woman in the shadows. However, the lack of tension in the way the woman's left wrist is bent suggests that it is not a serious scene. Perhaps the goldfish that a child caught at a summer festival are all thriving, ready to welcome autumn; the lack of clues allows for a variety of imaginations.
